British Blend - Premium Black Tea from Tetley Tea

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

30 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 3/5
May. 21st, 2014

I find Tetley completely lacking when comparing it to the other British blends for daily tea drinking found in the supermarket. I prefer Yorkshire, PG Tips, Twining's Everyday blend to name a few diverse alternative. Nonetheless, these are blends, the tea that I go to when I want something warm to drink and when I'm no...

May. 21st, 2014

This is my first review, so please be understanding.

My tea preferences:
Black tea: milk & 1 sugar
I don't usually like smokey teas

I LOVE Darjeeling. Darjeeling is the kind of tea that made me a tea fanatic! I find it light and filled with flavor. The first Twining's Darjeeling box that I tried, I enjoyed, h...

May. 20th, 2014

A delightful, very green Darjeeling of the highest quality, sweet, aromatic, and reminiscent of summer.

Reviewing Happy Earth's Teas is always a delightful pleasure...the question is usually, is this going to be among the best of the best teas I've ever sampled? Or is it just going to be a really, really, really fr...

British Blend - Premium Black Tea from Tetley Tea

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

13 / 100 Aroma: 1/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
May. 20th, 2014

I've been drinking tetley British blend for several years and as of today I'm changing to a different tea. It tastes like water and is very weak tasting. It's obvious that the company has cut back on it's product because at one time it was enjoyable.

May. 19th, 2014

I thought this tea was pretty good. It didn't wow me, and I didn't pick up many nuances in aroma or flavor, but I didn't hate it. It seemed to match the name pretty well: Basic Black.

I have enough left for one cup, so I think I'll try it again with a little sugar and almond milk, just to see if the character c...

Just Awesome Assam from Just.Organic.Tea

May. 17th, 2014

The aroma of the tea is malty and bright with a bit of a roasted peanut finish. It is a fairly mild Assam, but it is a nice aroma, even if I wish it was a bit stronger.

My cup of tea is brisk, malty, and nicely bright. Just the perfect pick-me-up for people, like me, who really need a boost in the morning. The more...

I purchased this tea at amazon.com.I am a novice when it comes to teas and I don't like tea. However, this tea is delicious.I read that black tea lowers cortisol levels, and that darjeeling is the best tea.when I I drink it, within a short amount of time I am incredibly relaxed.I have high cortisol levels and am constantl...

When I opened the bag of tea and took a deep inhale, I was not immediately impressed. It smelled like tea.

But then I boiled the water and started to brew this, and wow, it's gorgeous. The tea is a lovely amber color and the brewed tea smells exactly like the malted grains used in brewing beer. I mean *exactly*...

The last of four rather old samples that were given to me as a gift by a friend. This one seemed to have lost a bit more of its aroma than the others did.

The dry leaf is beautiful, although slightly more broken than the others (the picture shows this quite accurately) and with a slightly lower portion of golden ti...

The third of the four rather old Assam samples that I'm reviewing, thanks to one of my friends who gave them to me as she doesn't like Assam.

The dry leaf of this sample is beautiful (the picture Upton provided doesn't do it justice), mostly made of curled golden tips, with little darker leaf. Surprisingly aromatic...

May. 7th, 2014

I've now reviewed five of the specialty teas from Red Rose, but it wasn't until today that I finally reviewed their original flagship blend.

The tea bags, as well as the brewed cup (I brewed for 3 minutes) are basically aroma-less, but upon drinking it's actually more pleasant.

Full-bodied and strong tasting but ...

Another of the old samples my friend Naomi gave to me. The dry leaf of this sample, mostly dark with a few orangish tips, had little aroma left, which made me wonder if it was more stale.

Upon brewing though, a stronger aroma came out. Brews up a bold, dark cup, with just the right amount of tannins to make it edg...

May. 4th, 2014

One of my friends had a rather old set of Assam samplers from Upton that she had received as a gift, and she recently passed them off to me as she's less a fan of Assam. As Assam tends to keep longer than a lot of teas, I gave it a try, and I was pleasantly surprised. All four teas seem to have kept quite well. This...

My first tea made gongfu style! This is milder than I expected and I was pleasantly surprised.

I steeped for 30 seconds to start. The tea was a very pale amber. The flavor was very light, and slightly sweet.

I did another steep of 30 seconds and the tea darkened slightly. I didn't notice much difference in t...

I really wish I tasted some of that pepper from the description.

This was brewed using boiling water for 6 min. The tea smells great before and after steeping, but it has a sharp taste that I don't appreciate.

I try to drink tea without sugar or milk, but it may be needed here. Toward the end of the cup, I star...

The aroma of this tea is bright, bold, and malty with a hint of pecans and dried leaves. Very much a standard black tea indeed!

This tea has a nice mild briskness, just enough to wake you up but not too much, no need to worry about your moth turning inside out. There is a bold malty and oak wood taste that fades to ...

I recently sampled this, mentally comparing it with the Filiz Cayi from Caykur. I thought this tea was delightful, I think a much better tea than the Filiz Cayi, which was pleasant, light and smooth, but without much depth.

Using a teaspoon of leaf and a 3 minute steep, brews up a light body, with a clear liquor. ...

The aroma of the curly long leaves is nothing short of complex, blending rich cocoa, roasted peanuts, cloves, a bit of barley, and a woody quality. The aroma is more savory than sweet, in fact it is all savory instead of sweet, with a strong and heavy presence. This is a tea that will be noticed!

The aroma of the dry leaves is sharply sweet and a bit fruity, specifically a bit muscatel, there are strong notes of cocoa, caramelized sugar, orchids, and oak wood. The aroma is very fruity, strong notes of juicy plums with a side of roasted peanuts and a faint malt at the finish. Wow. An exceptional tea. This was definitely the best breakfast tea I've ever tried, I'd go farther and say it was the best of any blended tea. This was one of three teas in a sampler pack that my parents received as a gift, and I'm glad they gave me some to try.

The aroma is exceptionally sweet and fruity, blending notes of fresh grapes, scuppernongs, and a hint of fresh figs. There is also a very mild note of roses and malt, giving this tea a delightfully complex aroma. This might be the best smelling Black Ceylon that I have had the pleasure of sniffing.
