Green Tea from Lipton Tea

Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????

57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 26th, 2014

Eh. Meh.
It's better than their black tea - but that's not saying much. I get this for free at the office - and I would pick this over Lipton Black (The tea that jolts like cawfee) any day.

Inexpensive and drinkable - but there are plenty of better green teas out there - and some are only a tad more money.

Superb Black Tea from The Excellent Tea Company

Style: Black Tea – Region: Rwanda

50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 26th, 2014

Super small tea particles in a cheapy-bag. Smells OK - a bit earthy - and definitely a black tea. Brewed up strong - but not inky. Not nearly as tannic as, say, Lipton. Drinkable but not a fave.

Breathe Easy® from Traditional Medicinals

Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend

57 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 13th, 2014

Boy this stuff will surely clear you out! So mentholly-herbaceous-spicy. It's cold, It's hot. It's way too strong to drink recreationally - but for a cold and when you are desparate - give it a shot. I much prefer the "Throat Coat" tea - easier to take.

Yunnan Golden Pu-erh Tea from Teavana

Style: Miscellaneous Tea-only Blend – Region: Yunnan, China

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 11th, 2014

Brews up quickly - 2 minutes seemed fine - 3 might have been too strong. Not too tannic, nice aroma and flavor - a light golden/brown color when brewed. I would go back for a second cup! (No sweetener added.) This is one of my first forays into the Pu-erh tea world.

Green Tea Tulsi Tea from Organic India

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: ?????

50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 30th, 2014

Eh. Meh. Maybe I am just not a Tulsi (Holy Basil) girl. I love it in Curries. I love it on chicken - but maybe not as a morning cuppa. Meanwhile It tastes OK - not great and not awful, I think I will need to try a few more tulsi teas before I make a final determination - but at first sip - I'm not lovin' it.

Mango Maui Black Tea from Hawaiian Islands Tea Company

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend

53 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 28th, 2014

Smells great - a strong fruity Mango/Tropical scent but doesn't taste nearly as good as it sounds/smells. In fact - if yuou sweeten it it is cloying and "fakey-mango".

I got this for free from my mother-in-law who visited Hawaii. I don;t think I'd go out of my way to seek this brand out, nor purchase it.

Too bad...

English Afternoon from Ahmad Tea

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 28th, 2014

I am not a fan or Earl Grey - and I could not tell by the tea-bag packet (sachet) that this would have an orangey-citursy-bergamotlike twang to it. As a result, I like the other Ahmads I have tried better (English Breakfast).

Decent - but not a fave.

English Breakfast (Teabags) from Ahmad Tea

Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend

67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 23rd, 2014

I liked this one - not too tannic but a little bit of a bite and a caffeinated buzz for the morning. One bag easily made 2 dark infusions. No issues here.

That said - the Ahmad Darjeeling is much better - but i love Darjeeling in the first place.

English Breakfast from Twinings

Style: English Breakfast – Region: ?????

47 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 16th, 2014

I actually enjoyed the first & second infusion of the teabag I brewed out of sheer desperation. Maybe it was because I was sick, maybe it was the 2 packets of Splenda I added (no honey to be found) and maybe it was because a hot cup of ANYTHING would have helped, but I rather liked the Twinings. Not a holy grail, but...

Orange Dulce from Mighty Leaf Tea

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????

33 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 13th, 2014

I loathe Orange & Spice-type teas. The aversion goes back to Celestial Seasonings that I was forced to drink as a child. So, when a local restaurant, gave me a bag of this when I had asked for Jasmine (He said they had "Orange Jasmine" - and Mighty Leaf does make an Orange Jasmine but this is not it.), I drank it - aga...

Assam from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 7th, 2014

I am enjoying the Organic Assam from 2 leaves (and a bud) - it brews up strong but not bitter - very "clean" tasting and great for breakfast in Winter. Delicious and easy to drink.

As with all the teabags from 2 Leaves - it is over priced.

Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India

77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 6th, 2014

I really enjoyed this bagged version of Darjeeling - and I am a Darjeeling lover. This one is not nearly as bitter as some, and really fresh smelling and tasting for a bagged tea. Took a solid 3-4 minutes to steep - so give it some time and enjoy. I did add sweetener to it - but you certainly don't need to. Very tr...

I loathe mint tea and this one is no exception. Reminds me of a mild mouth rinse in tea form. Grossness.

Country Peach Passion® Herbal Tea from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: ?????

78 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 3rd, 2013

I am not a huge fan of Celestial Seasonings - that said back in the '70's they were some of the first herbal tisanes I ever tried - even as a child.

I enjoy the smell of Country Peach Passion better than the taste. Sweet and fruity with a distinct (somewhat fake-y) peach note to it.

This might be one of my faves...

Smells great - but had an unpleasant bitter aftertaste - even moreso than other mid-grade bagged black teas that i have tried. Meanwhile, the pineapple scent was delightful - too bad ot does not taste as good as it smells. Steeps quickly and brews-up dark!

Morning Thunder from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Yerba Maté Black Tea – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 24th, 2013

Morning Thunder is one of the few Celestial Seasonings teas that touts that it contains caffeine. There are only 2 ingredients. Yerba Mate and Black Tea. That's it. Conveniently packaged in mid-priced tea bags. It's actually not bad - especially for those who like the malty-herbaceousness of Yerba Mate. I am plea...

Passion Filterbag from Tazo Tea

57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 28th, 2013

People just love this one - but for some reason, I don't. Too floral and ascerbic and weirdly tart for me. But my 9 year old digs it iced - and Starbucks serves it in vast quantities.

I like Tazo's Green and the old-formula "Om" a bit better.

Decaf Vanilla Nut Creme Black Tea from Stash Tea

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend

53 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Jul. 23rd, 2013

Not a fave - the sweet vanilla and almost-coffee like nutty notes just don;t seem like "real tea" to me. This one you have to drink hot - it's not a good flavor for iced - not refreshing but it is comforting in a sweet-artificial-vallinin sort of a way. Tea trying to be a coffee? Doesn't work for me.

I am rating the bottled Lipton Iced tea. Far too much sweetener makes it undrinkable. Yech! Bitter, black-tasting and over-sweetened and caloric. Owned by PepsiCo.

I just don't care for smoked teas (lapsang souchong) and this one had an almost cigarett-y/tarry scent to it (more of an aroma than a taste - thank goodness). Just not my bag at all! And terrible iced. Barely tolerable hot.

What possessed me to try this? I should know better by now. At least it was free (had thi...

Organic Breakfast from Mighty Leaf Tea

Jul. 3rd, 2013

This is served at a local coffee shop I go to - along with other (and better) varieties of Mighty Leaf. This is a run-of-the-mill black blend - fully caffeinated - and not a fave but better than grocery-store brands. I much prefer (as Alex has said) the green ones.

Also it brews/steeps up dark and fast - 4 minutes...

I don't think this tea is discontinued - as I just had it.
