Orange Spice from Chado High Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????59 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 7th, 2018
Preparing this tea brought back a fond childhood memory from about age 8. We were poor, but my mom had bought a box of "orange pekoe" tea as a rare indulgence, and I was excited to try some, thinking it literally was orange-flavored of whatever "pekoe" tea was. Imagine my disappointment, then, when it had no flavor a...

In many ways, the behavior of this concoction from bag to cup to esophagus reminded me uncannily of the berry-flavored members of Celestial Seasonings' "Zinger" line:
* Fruity, hibiscus-heavy dry-bag and in-cup aromas,
* Initial cherry-red color turning a deep, opaque purple-gray with time,
* Strongly fruity,...
Raspberry Zinger Herbal Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: ?????56 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5

This tea smells pretty good and fruity, it doesn’t smell artificial like some fruit teas do. Unfortunately the taste just isn’t doing it for me though. I wouldn’t say it’s terrible, it’s just a bit too sour for my taste and it also leaves a weird sensation in my throat after drinking it (sort of an astringent...

This tea has a mild roasty and vegetal aroma which I enjoy. The flavor is pretty good and also has a kind of roasted quality to it. I enjoy this green tea because it is very smooth and is definitely less astringent than many other green teas I’ve had. It still does have a slight astringent aftertaste in my throat but...

I really enjoy this tea a lot! It’s super relaxing and I feel good when I drink it. This tea is not astringent or bitter at all which I like! I really love how this tea tastes! The flavor is hard to describe, it has a pleasant herbal and slightly floral taste. I will definitely be buying this tea again, very enjoyabl...

I really enjoy the strong peppermint smell of this tea! It tastes decent but it's a bit too bitter for my taste unfortunately. People who are less sensitive to bitter tastes may find it just fine though! One thing I do really like though is the cooling sensation the mint gives me in my throat. This may be a good tea to...

I really enjoy this tea, I like this particular blend of herbs! It’s actually pretty sweet even though it doesn’t have any artificial sweeteners or sugars, which is a big plus for me. Even though it has very strong herbs like ginger and mint, it doesn’t taste too overwhelming at all. It’s actually very soothing...

A very strong black tea that didn't have much going for it other than its strength.
Served at the Gander's Family Restaurant in Luna Pier, MI (super cheap diner with pretty good but very basic diner food! I recommend it more than this tea!) Tea isn't usually the strong suits of these types of restaurants, but I do t...

This tea smells sort of roasted yet mild. It is smooth and not very astringent or bitter at all, which I love! The flavor is pretty mild though but maybe I could fix that if I steep it for longer. Overall this tea doesn’t wow me so much but it is still pretty nice and for how cheap it is it’s a really good option i...

I would give this tea a good rating. I started drinking it yesterday for my lost voice, sore throat and cold, and three cups and 12 hours later I could talk again. The ginger flavor and aroma must be reasonably strong-- I can still detect it even while ill. Like most real ginger teas, this one burns a little going do...

A vacation motel/lodge at which I was staying in southern Colorado had a large assortment of Allegro teas, all of which I have tried or will. [I'm basing "value" off their stated online prices, compared to what one gets.] Here's the next in line.
By itself, this was a reasonably good tea, albeit different than e...
Puerh Jam Session from Good Earth Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 7th, 2018
This is a surprisingly complex tea. Good Earth bills it as a "zesty and fruity marmalade flavor" but I'm not sure I entirely agree. It does taste like marmalade, but it's not what I would call "zesty". Initially, it's predominantly citrus and could be considered zesty, but it quickly mellows to a more balanced, smooth ...

I've said before that ginger tea can be a bit overpowering at times. In this case, it's one of the best blended ginger teas I've found to date. The ginger is there, but not overpowering. The apricot is full-flavored but not overly fruity. All in all, it's a very well-balanced tea that is a pleasure to drink.

Finally, after three decidedly lame ones in a row, I try a new peppermint tea that rates (barely) above the speed Sammy Hagar can't drive. I hope this upward trend continues with future peppermint teas, as this is an herb I dearly love.
Opening the wrapper released a pleasant puff of peppermint aroma, more than eve...
Tropical White from Allegro

Nov. 4th, 2018
Realizing white tea isn't supposed to be particularly intense, from what I've read here regarding its "delicate" flavor, and that any attempt to flavor it must be careful so as to avoid overwhelming the base tea, I went in to the consumption undertaking not expecting to be blasted through the roof by an explosion of po...

I drink quite a bit of the decaffeinated version of this tea, but had never tried the regular, caffeinated type and had the opportunity to.
Celestial Seasonings doesn't individually wrap its tea bags, but they are sealed together in a pouch made of waxed paper. The tea in the square, tagless bags is chopped fine.

This is my third consecutive "no bueno" on trying a new peppermint tea. It's about time to return to some old standbys, in order to re-familiarize with what peppermint should be!

I'm not really sold on this one. T2 markets it as "holiday in a bag" and, to a point, they're right. It definitely reminds me of a beach, but it's the wrong part of the beach. Maybe it's just me, but all I can smell from this tea is sunscreen. The flavor is there, it's a mild coconut/pineapple blend, but it seems off t...

So there I was in the tea section of a grocery store in western Colorado, realizing I had forgotten to bring enough green tea along on vacation, looking for some. The bright red, cylindrical tin with the black lid and white star caught my attention, as did the unusual brand name and flavor: pineapple, one I enjoy. T...

Unfortunately, neither the packaging nor website offers any information about the source of this tea. The tea is a lightly fermented, rolled oolong with a light to medium roast.
The tea is rolled very tightly and is rather dense. The dry aroma is of toasted bread and hazelnuts.

Turmeric Chai from Good Earth Teas

It's no secret I love Chai, and this one is no different. The turmeric is subtle, not overpowering as it tends to be, but the blend gives this tea a distinct earthy flavor. It's not as spicy as many similar blends, but comes across as a very smooth, flavorful tea. It's not my favorite chai, but it is one I will definit...

I'm going to call this a "temporary" review. While I'm going to endeavor to be accurate, I actually drank this tea while in the middle of a VERY long work day, and forgot to do the review on the spot. I'm a big fan of berry... anything, so I was enthusiastic about a chance to try a few of the berry teas from Solstice, particularly after experiencing some of their other black teas. Blackberry was a good choice for them, and this tea shines in its aroma. It is a prominent blackberry aroma, and quite pleasant.

Vanilla Black Tea from Solstice Tea Traders

Oct. 18th, 2018
Straight vanilla black teas are a bit hard to come by. The majority of the time, the vanilla is blended with some other flavor and, when it isn't, it usually comes across tasting more like a cheap vanilla extract than true vanilla. Thankfully, this isn't the case for Solstice Tea's attempt.
The aroma isn't overwhelm...
