Half-litre pot at home, made from very fine black tea leaves - the description on the label tea company's website mentions CTC from the best high plains of Africa - so tiny it looks nearly like granulate. Pours somewhat hazy dark copper brown with an orange taint (against white china) and no discernible sediment. Clear...

Half-litre pot at home, made from a blend of Assam leaves (I asked specifically how many different types there were but received no assistance on this point in my local outlet in Flensburg). Pours clear darkish copper brown (against white china) with no sediment. Clear, malty and leafy aroma of Assam tea, with very mil...

I was surprised by this tea. Once again, I think some teas grown outside of 'traditional' can have an usual taste. I have had tea from Kenya before and it was a bit of a disappointment. This tea turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Nice aroma, for has a very slight hint of fruit. The liquor is a beautiful deep ho...

Here is a middle of the road English breakfast offering from Upton. It is pretty smooth, with some malty notes and tannins. It is not too heavy, nor too light. The aroma is woody and a little cardboard-like. This is meant to be served with milk, and that works nicely. I tried it with lemon also, but that brings ou...

Half-litre pot at home, made from smoked Chinese black tea leaves. Pours clear dark amber (against white china) with no sediment. Clear aroma of smoke, with notes of black tea. Half-litre cup at home, made from fine small green, brown and yellow leaves. Pours clear peach yellow (against white china) with no sediment. Very mild aroma of fresh leaves, much faintier than the loose leaves themselves emit. Mild, leafy but fresh and pure flavour of black tea, with floral touches. A delicate palate,...

Half-litre pot at home, made from a blend of seven different strong and flavourful black teas (the company does not specify which ones, but repeats it trice in the description of the tea that the teas are strong; hm...). Both the loose and bagged versions of this blend have gone down my gullet, and I honestly can't tell much (if any) difference, at least within a reasonably narrow batch-to-batch margin of error. That said, I'll base this review mainly on what I've got right now, which is bags from a sampler pack.
The dry-bag (and ...

Not bad, considering this is a teabag. It tastes like a basic but not bitter black tea, and I do notice some raisin-like notes as well. It’d be a good at-work tea.

I was really excited to see loose-leaf tea for sale in ALDI, and I eagerly bought this. I can't remember how much it cost but I think it was around $5. I had written some time back about how frustrated I was at how bad the tea bag teas from Benner Tea Co, the ALDI generic brand, were.
ALDI consistently has high-qual...

I always buy tea bags for eating in restaurants. In the USA, Lipton is the tea offered. I have been trying different brands of bagged tea. This was my first taste of Typhoo. It has a strong taste that does not linger in your mouth. Very dark brew. Has a nice punch that will pair well with an omelette.

I found a novelty tin (Buckingham Palace!) of this tea and bought it on a whim. The packaging has EU-style product labeling, but the 2g (instead of typical UK 3g) teabag fill means this was either intended for sale outside the UK, they're cheaping out, or both. The teabags in this tin were collectively sealed in a myla...

Taylor's has/had a "Pure Assam". Does the absence of that adjective here make this one "impure" by default? :-)
Seriously, I don't know if "Assam Tea" is the same as "Pure Assam", repackaged and rebranded, or a parallel offering. It has been a few years since I tried and reviewed "Pure Assam", so I can't compare...

This is an excellent tea. I am not normally a lapsang souchong enthusiast, but this one is quite compelling. Smokey, but not overpoweringly so. It's rich but mellow, with a natural sweetness. Hints of cinnamon. I have tried both the loose leaf and teabags and they are equally fine. Highly recommended.

An unspectacular but good enough Ceylon tea. The aroma has a hint of freshly baked muffins to it. A 3 minute steep (which is what the directions called for) results in a bland but perfectly drinkable beverage.

The dry tea has almost no odor at all. The teabag smells slightly woody, which could either be from the tea or the paper. The tea looks to be CTC pellets that were ground up further. I wonder if the "Pure Assam" that this tea seems to have replaced was orthodox tea and that's the difference.
This tea smells tannic a...

Each bag contains 2.5g of what looks like ground up CTC pellets. There's very little scent from the dry tea. It smells faintly woody, like a new newspaper.
This tea brews up dark. Before I've finished pouring the water, the tea is already darker than most black teas end up. By the time brewing's done, it's a deep br...

Dry, this tea smells vaguely of cocoa and molasses. It's understated, but pleasant. While brewing, the aroma is of light brown sugar, but not heavy. The cocoa from earlier is still there, but less pronounced than I expected based on the initial aroma and experience with other Sri Lankan teas. There's a faint note of ra...
