Wild Berries from Twinings
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend66 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 5th, 2022
This is Twinings' take on the standard rosehip/hibiscus blend with added flavors. It's fruity, leaning heavily toward strawberry. The hibiscus lends a bit of tartness, but as far as I can tell, the other ingredients are just carriers for the host of added "natural flavors."
The main difference in this one is the pre...
Earl Grey from Twinings
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????58 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 5th, 2022
The dry tea is finely chopped and smells strongly of citrus. There are a few white flecks in the bag that according to the ingredients are probably bergamot peel.
I'm pretty sure that the citrus in Twinings Earl Grey is a blend. The bergamot is pronounced (as it should be in an Earl Grey), but I also taste sweet ora...
African Honeybush, Mandarin and Orange from Twinings
Style: Flavored Honeybush – Region: ?????45 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 4th, 2022
The dry bag smells like canned mandarin oranges and the infusion smells like orange soda.
The flavor is slightly more complex. I get some of the toasty woodiness of the honeybush and the flavor's nice, but is weak and a bit stale tasting. It's mediocre all around in that there are higher quality herbals and better-t...
Spiced Apple Chai from Twinings
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Blend35 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Aug. 4th, 2022
This tea is all about the added flavors. The dry tea smells strongly of green apple peels. Adding hot water brings out a bit of spice, predominantly cinnamon.
I don't taste or smell any tea. The flavor is mostly cinnamon with a bit of ginger heat and some apple in the background and tastes like those powdered hot ci...
Lady Grey (Loose) from Twinings
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend62 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 23rd, 2022
The loose tea is a rather broken black tea blend with visible bits of citrus peel and blue cornflower petals. It smells strongly like fresh oranges, but the tea aroma is quite faint. Adding hot water brings out a malty aroma from the tea, but the citrus still predominates.
The bulk of the flavor is citrus. The blend...
Irish Breakfast (Loose) from Twinings
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Blend59 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 27th, 2022
The version I'm rating is from the "American" tin (packed in Greensboro, NC, but presumably shipped over in bulk to parse out for that purpose). It doesn't look appreciably different from the photo I uploaded off Twinings' website.
Dry aroma was surprisingly weak for an Irish Breakfast blend, but pleasant to the e...
Ultra Spice Chai from Twinings
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????84 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 4th, 2021
The aroma is nice and spicy. I like the flavor as well. It was definitely present but not as intense as "ultra" might imply. I didn't sweeten it, but I think it could do well both sweetened or unsweetened depending on one's mood. Overall, this is a solid bagged tea!

I’m not an expert on earl gray. This may be the first I’ve ever had.
Prep: 200F, 5min, 2.5tsp, 16oz
Aroma - There is a ton of citrus exploding out of the cup. I can’t pick up much else, honestly.
Flavor: A little bit of orange peel, more orange zesty notes. It’s pretty hard to get to the actual tea....
Earl Grey from Twinings
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????40 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 22nd, 2020
Cup at home, made from a teabag. Pours hazy dark brown (against white china) with sediment. Intense aroma of malt, bergamot oil, citrus and, well, horse manure, if you ask me, with some leafy notes of black tea. Bitter flavour of black tea, with some malty notes (Assam?) and citric touches and hints of bergamot oil. As...

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend48 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

Dry or steeping, this tea smells of lemon candy.
The tea is pretty one-dimensional. The flavor is lemony with a slightly astringent, smoky finish. The spent teabags have a curious pink tinge to them. I'm guessing that it might be something like hibiscus for tartness, though none is specifically listed in the ingredi...
Lady Grey from Twinings
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
May. 9th, 2020
Cup at home, made from a teabag. Pours nearly clear orangeish copper brown with negligible sediment. Clear aroma of Earl Grey tea, with mild touches of orange. Mild, bitter flavour of black tea, with some round touches of orange and dry hints of lemon. Midly astringent palate of black tea with smooth touches of orange ...

Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Matale, Sri Lanka (Dimbula)64 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
May. 1st, 2020
Dry, this tea smells vaguely of cocoa and molasses. It's understated, but pleasant. While brewing, the aroma is of light brown sugar, but not heavy. The cocoa from earlier is still there, but less pronounced than I expected based on the initial aroma and experience with other Sri Lankan teas. There's a faint note of ra...

I must confess this tea was like a sort of introduction for me to the world of teas. I used to have it as a child on Sunday afternoons by my father. We had it strong and with plenty of sugar.
I'd say that this tea offers a very respectable value for money. In my area, it can be found easily (even in not specialized ...
English Breakfast from Twinings
Style: English Breakfast – Region: ?????55 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 2nd, 2020
Classic English Breakfast tea but I expected more from Twinings here. You aren't hit by this tea (like by Typhoo). I like a bit of a stronger note in taste. This one is unspectacular. I really tried to find something special in this tea but didn't find anything.

This is one of the best green teas I ever had. Rich flavour, very decent aroma. No bad pre- or aftertaste. I couldn't stop drinking this tea until I had finished the box. Highly recommended!

I was a bit disappointed with this one. Almost no taste, if you compare it to other black teas (like Typhoo) far too mild and decent. Didn't give me any kick. Very boring taste.

I got a coupon from Twinings to replace some decaffeinated Earl Gray, which was really quite awful, and I decided to spend it on this.
The spices were a tad different than other chai tea bags I'd had before. I've had chai in restaurants and have bought tea bags in the Indian sector of a nearby city, and the spices i...

Cup at home. Pours nearly clear light copper brown with no sediment. Clear but mild aroma of black tea, with very mild hints of caramel. Smooth but bitter flavour of black tea, ending on a dryish note. This is my staple black tea, which I drink several times a day when I don't have the time to enjoy more sophisticated ...

Twining's US uses a less-health-hazardous method for extracting caffeine from tea. I commend them for that, in principle. In practice, this is a terrible way of extracting caffeine because it takes all of the flavor along with it. There is a better way of doing it that is both less health-hazardous and maintains flavor...

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend65 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 8th, 2019
The flavor of Nightly Calm is mostly spearmint with a hint of chamomile. The spearmint is nice and doesn't taste grassy or woody. The chamomile is mostly detectable as a faint richness and I don't taste any of the other ingredients.
Pure spearmint is hard to find as a bagged herbal tea and the brands that sell it ar...
English Afternoon from Twinings
Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????55 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jul. 15th, 2019
The box says that it's a blend of Keemun and Ceylon teas. There are notes of cocoa and dark bread crust and the flavor's quite complex for grocery store tea, but it's too bitter and astringent.
The tea gets better and mellows a bit as it cools. The cocoa becomes more pronounced and I can taste the sweetness from the...
Earl Grey from Twinings
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????64 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 6th, 2019
I got this from a restaurant hot-tea selection box and took home an extra bag to taste-test on good well water. The bergamot was somewhat feeble throughout the consumption experience. Still, it's among the better Twinings teas I've had (yes, I realize that's not saying much).
Sweetened, as I always do, this prod...
Pure Peppermint from Twinings
Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: ?????48 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 21st, 2019
Once again, I drank a Twinings product, wondering how this brand gained enough of a reputation or loyalty to have lasted so long. The peppermint in these bags wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. Lots of stems too! It reminded me a lot of cheap/knock-off store brands or some of the lower-quality food-service pepperm...

Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Apr. 4th, 2019
At first glance, the tea looks odd for Twinings. Twinings's loose teas are usually broken leaf, but the pieces are much larger and appear to be better quality than what goes into the teabags. The Darjeeling is different. The loose tea pieces are tiny and uniform and look exactly like what goes into the teabags. Like mo...
