Jun. 6th, 2023

I bought a box of 25 tea bags in an Asian grocery store. The bags are individually sealed in foil and filled with finely chopped pieces of tea. Upon opening the foil pouch, the tea smells recognizably as a roasted oolong.

The brewed tea is unremarkable, but it tastes quite nice. It has a mild bitterness that is bala...

This is a very nice tea. Small black leaves with some gold strands. It brews up light color, brown/black, very clear. It has a nice peppery taste with a decent caffeine kick. Very nice in the afternoon.

Jasmine Silver Pearls from Foojoy

Style: Jasmine Pearls – Region: China

93 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 13th, 2018

This is by far the best tea I have tasted. It has a smooth, delicate jasmine aroma without the bitterness. It piques my senses. Has a regal, elegant taste and doesnt cling to the palette. Blends well with fruit teas like mango and other citrus fruit.

90 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Jul. 16th, 2017

For such a cheap tea it's really good, it's very aromatic and flavorful. It's very interesting and has a lot of character. The smell is kind of a weird burnt smokey smell which I actually really enjoy, and the taste is consistent with that smell. The taste is very smokey and warm and thick so it's a very comforting tea...

China Black Tea from Foojoy

Style: Black Tea – Region: China

65 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 17th, 2017

As mentioned in a previous review, the 100 tea bags in the box aren't sealed in any way, so the first thing I did upon opening the box was to put the bags into an airtight cannister.

The initial aroma of the tea reminds me of damp oak leaves with a hint of maltiness. The flavor is tannic and astringent, but is so mi...

This tea offers excellent value, and is quite a delicious tea for something that comes from a teabag. However, I think its necessary to pay attention to how you steep this and to find a brewing protocol that works best.

When I first brewed this, I roughly followed the instructions on the box, and steeped for around...

China Jasmine Green Tea from Foojoy

Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: China

57 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Oct. 6th, 2014

This tea reminds me of a lot of the cheap teas they serve for free at old school sit-down Chinese restaurants.

The color is faint red, green-brownish, like what you'd expect from cheap green tea. It is only mildy aromatic of jasmine, has a hint of sweetness, a smooth mouthfeel with little bitterness (when steeped...

Aug. 12th, 2014

Huh, I know this is an oolong tea but to me it tastes like a lighter version of the darjeelings I've tried recently. The scent and taste is a little more floral in nature with a lightly baked undertone. It goes together very smoothly. Not a bad tea at all, but not as impressive to me as some others. I had to add more l...

70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jul. 28th, 2014

This is the first dragon well tea I've tried and, based on my experience, I really must try more. There is an undertone of baked flavor, but I like it and think it compliments the tea well. It adds complexity without becoming dominant.

I brewed this at 175 °F for 3 minutes. Interestingly, the appearance changed not...

The first inexpensive dragon well or long jing green tea that I've tried that I thought worth drinking. A relatively low grade of dragon well, but recognizable as its style, and pleasant.

Dry leaf looks quite broken, honestly doesn't look the best quality, but it has a rich and pleasing aroma. The aroma resembles ...

China Green Tea from Foojoy

Dec. 26th, 2013

I think the bar is set pretty low when it comes to green teas in tea bags, but this one greatly exceeds my expectations for its price.

Not very picky about brewing--I used boiling water and it tastes fine. The 3 minute steeping is just about right. I wouldn't go too much longer because there is some bitterness and...

Dec. 26th, 2013

Brewed from a paper teabag stored for some time in the cupboard at my parents' house. It was surprisingly fresh and aromatic. Smells nice, but the flavor was more bitter than I like.

The tea bag contains fairly large, broken pieces of leaf, larger than in most tea bags, but smaller than in most high-end pyramid sa...

Very nice lightly roasted oolong with pleasant aroma and aftertaste. Full bodied and filled with interesting notes that remind me of tart baked apples, with hints of cinnamon and caramel. Second steeping of the leaves yields a bit more woodiness, and hints of walnut. A very interesting and nice oolong that I look forwa...

This was my first loose tea from Foojoy, and I was rather pleased. A good solid green that is both inexpensive and has good flavor. Although I had seen Foojoy loose teas in their tins at my local Asian market, I had never tried any since I was not ready to take a chance on about $9.50 for 8 ounces; a very good price, b...

I really like this tea. It has a nice smoky aroma. The flavor is strong and rich and not too bitter, but it's still crisp. One of the best black teas I've had. I added cream and sugar.

An inexpensive Keemun of very good quality for its price. Very smooth and mellow, but rich. Classic Keemun flavor and aroma: winey and slightly smoky.

Dry leaf is fine and pretty broken, with a mild but very pleasing aroma.

Upon brewing I notice a very gentle smokiness, and the characteristic wine-like quality ...

The aroma is very mild and lovely, a mixture of green, roasted, and honeysuckles. It reminds me of the way my kitchen smells after I make my own Hojicha.

The taste is mild for a Ti Kuan Yin and more green than floral. The initial taste is a toasty green with hints of floral, as the taste fades you are left with swe...

May. 28th, 2013

I love shou mei, a darker white tea, and I love Foojoy, so I was expecting to like this one, and I did. It's remarkably high quality for such an inexpensive tea bag. The only shou mei I've tried in tea bags.

This tea is surprisingly pungent, with the characteristic aroma of autumn leaves, and a hint of spice and p...

This struck me as an average-quality chun mee (precious eyebrows) green tea for a very low price. Not the best tea of its type that I've sampled, but certainly the best at this price point.

I bought this tea in a Square tin for the pretty low price of $8 for 8 ounces, which seemed outright cheap to me.

This oolong has a noticeable roasted quality but still a lot of greener character. It comes across as both toasty and fresh, and is very complex.

The cup brews a dark color, and the leaves turn a dark olive-brown upon steeping. The aroma is both woody and herbaceous, and has tones of nut, cocoa, and spice (especia...

Oct. 11th, 2011

This pu'er tea is kind of a flat and earthy tea (maybe even a little bready) with pretty simple characteristics, but it has nice qualities overall, and is very calming. Overall, it left a good impression on me.

I read one review of this tea that complained about it being "dusty." The photo accompanying the review sh...

This Foojoy Shoumei has similar color to their Bai Mudan. The aroma is milder in the Shoumei, and has a hint of fruit. The taste of the Shoumei is also milder than that of their Bai Mudan, but very smooth and with a hint of sweetness. Overall, though, these teas are very similar. This is perhaps the milder and slightly...

Oct. 8th, 2011

I have been curious about this tea for awhile, as I have not seen Wuyi wulong teas available in tea bag form before. I was curious to see what the basic character of this tea is, as there are several major types of such teas from the Wuyi region. I expected it to either be of a Shuixian or Dahongpao type.

This Foojo...

I have been keeping my eyes open for China Black Tea in the area, but with no luck. Foojoy's Lichee Black Tea is available, but I have been very hesitant about buying any type of "flavored" teas. In any case, I have tried a few cups of this type now.

My only other experience with lichee flavored teas is a lichee dan...
