Classic Blend from Tetley Tea

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

30 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 8th, 2012

This tea is very simple and does not impress me at all. This Tea is loved by my dad but it's cheap and also it's completely flavour-less but when you are in a hurry and just want a simple cup of Tea. Tetley is the way to go. Tetley has nothing special and just picks any tea leaves and just puts it in and does not care ...

77 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

This tea had a light, slightly floral, aroma and a nice light taste to accompany it. Overall I thought this tea was refreshing and would drink it again.

Sapphire Earl Grey Tea from Novus Tea

Style: Blue Flower Earl Grey – Region: Blend

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 6th, 2012

I always love the smell of bergamot in Earl Grey and the dried leaf of this tea does not fail to deliver, although most of the aroma was lost after brewing. The additional malva flowers gave no new taste to me. Overall I thought this was a good, strong, Earl Grey, but nothing too exotic like the description suggests!...

Ceylon Blackwood Estate Organic Green Tea from Simpson & Vail

Style: Green Tea – Region: Uva, Sri Lanka

80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 6th, 2012

Simpson and Vail informs me that Blackwood estate is part of Idulgashinna estate, if you're familiar with that one (I am not).

This tea had a similar flavor profile to other Ceylon greens that I've had: it was similar in some ways to Chinese green teas, but with a darker character, and more vegetal, but slightly les...

Gen Mai Cha from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Genmaicha – Region: China

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 5th, 2012

I was skeptical of the tea because the scent reminded me of Honey Smack cereal (minus most of the sweetness), and I was never too fond of Honey Smacks.

This tea grew on me as is cooled down. When the tea was still hot, all I tasted was the puffed rice, and I couldn’t help but feel like I was drinking watery porri...

Tropical Goji Green from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Fruit Green Tea – Region: Blend

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 5th, 2012

The scent of this tea was so scrummy. It was sweet and fruity, and I was excited to get brewing right away. And let me tell you, the taste of Tropical Goji Green was just as delicious as its smell.

“Flavoring” can be a little tricky because it can overpower the tea, but in this tea it was a nice balance. The fl...

Vietnam Black Tea from Simpson & Vail

Style: Black Tea – Region: Vietnam

67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 5th, 2012

Dry leaf has a mild, but very pleasing aroma, surprisingly suggestive of sweetness.

The brewed cup has a lighter golden color, than one would expect from the dark color of the leaf. Flavor is smooth, with a honey-like sweetness, a pleasing crispness, and minimal astringency. Full-bodied yet with a cooling quality....

This tea has a nice aroma. It tastes kind of like chai rooibos. I like the blend of spices, but don't like the dominant flavor of rooibos. I'm a fan of chai, but I don't like rooibos in general. I added cream and sugar.

Had this tea for the first time at an upscale restaurant, last night. I've been drinking Earl Grey for years. The malva flowers give this tea additional flavor that is exceptional.

I really like this tea. Unlike a lot of fruit flavored teas where the flavor is completely overwhelming, the fruit flavors come through as a gentle tart flavor that completes the floral notes to the white tea. It over-steeps easily and can become overwhelmingly sour if one isn't careful, however.

Rose Petals from Shanti Tea

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: India

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jun. 1st, 2012

I love rose petals, both for brewing as an herbal tea on their own, and for blending with both green and black teas. Brewed on their own they produce a surprisingly strong cup with a reddish color, pleasing rose aroma, and strong flavor. The aroma is very different from most of the light, airy floral aromas, and more...

This tea is pretty good. The aroma is rich, but the flavor is somewhat weak. When I brewed it longer, it tasted a bit bitter. But other than that, the flavor is really good. Maybe if I had some more I could experiment more with brewing times and get it to taste better. I added cream and sugar.

Citrus Punch from Shanti Tea

May. 30th, 2012

I am very skeptical of flavored teas in general, but this is a flavored tea done well. It is not only completely unlike any orange-flavored tea I have tried up until this point, but it was impressive.

The base tea shows a large-leafed, dark oolong, and the aroma is of both tea and orange.

Upon brewing, there is ...

I do prefer the loose leaf from this same brand; it seems to stay fresher. I also think that the loose tea has a certain lightness, like the rice-like tones in the aroma, absence in this one.

This is a strong English-style breakfast tea, true to the name, but not quite as interesting as some.

I find it does not ...

This tea doesn't have a very prominent tea flavor or aroma. It has way too much bergamot flavor for my taste. It's not quite undrinkable. Bergamot enthusiasts may love this tea. I added cream and sugar.

I don't like these sour fruit teas, and this one is no exception. I do, however, prefer it slightly to the Wild Encounter Herb Tea (berry flavored) from Novus.

Although rather similar to Wild Encounter, this one is slightly less sour, and more sweet. Surprisingly sweet, naturally, without adding any sugar. Aroma ...

Aroma of the dry leaf is like a masala chai, heavy on the cardamom, but with perhaps a more strong suggestion of dried herbs, like an herb garden.

The brewed cup, red in color, smells much less like a typical masala chai. The rooibos is strongly evident, and there's a pretty strong spicy quality, I think from the g...

Snow Leopard is a white tea though its aroma and flavor seem very close to green tea.

The predominant flavor is one of light grassiness while the taste on the back of the tongue and the finish have a pleasing but very subtle fruitiness.

This is the best green tea that I've had yet, and possibly my favorite tea! Paired with lunch on a hot day, I was extremely satisfied by its taste! It was refreshing and smooth, and had no bitterness whatsoever ( which is one of my usual complaints with tea). While it is a little pricey, I feel like this tea is wort...
