Dear...God. Probably one of the best black teas I've ever had the pleasure to stick my tongue in. It embodies everything a Darjeeling should.

This is a perfectly good tisane blend, but if you can help it...go for the loose leaf version. Especially if you have a soy sensitivity, such as myself.

Tokio from Lupicia

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: ?????

63 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 20th, 2010

Tokio is a frustrating tea because it has this really fantastic, delicate fruity aroma, but the actual flavor is kind of heavy handed... all around "berry" flavor that way over powers the green tea.
I'm not a fan of berry/fruit tea in general so I'm definitely biased. However, I would recommend it to any fruit tea lov...

The flavors are mild and disappear wuickly if you like to add anything to your tea (I like honey). The finish is a bit acidic, but not overly so. It's fairly decent for bagged tea.

Blueberry Pomegranate White Tea from Lipton Tea

Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: Blend

30 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 20th, 2010

This is an interesting concoction. This is rather bitter and a bit tart. One of my least favorite teas, it took quite a bit of honey to cover this tea up. The fruity notes taste old and musty while the tea didn't seem to contribute much of anything.

This is a rather dull tea both in the nose and on the palate. Definitely not something to get excited about. Having said that, it's not a terrible tea either. Iced or hot, it can be enjoyed.

This tea is light and flavorful giving flavors of fruits and a touch of earth. This is a regular component of our pantry. Higly recommend it.

77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

The aroma is light and sweet offering slight notes of the ginger. The falvor is nicely sweet and a touch spicey. The pear really doesn't come through all that strong. The tea itself is of decent quality coming from a bag. This is one of my favorite bagged teas.

Organic Japanese Sencha from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Sencha – Region: Japan

47 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 18th, 2010

This tea was interesting; I brewed it for 3 minutes at 180 degrees. I found it was only good for a single infusion, which is why I settled on 3 minutes. Longer steeping made it too bitter and strong for me, and many people may like a shorter infusion.

Two Leaves and a Bud describes this as "brisk", and I think thi...

Golden Chai™ - Spiced Assam Black Tea from Numi Organic Tea

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Assam, India

57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 18th, 2010

Surprisingly weak given that this contains Assam black tea as the main ingredient. I brewed this in a small 6 oz. cup, for 3 minutes, with boiling water, and it still came out fairly weak (and a golden color, not a rich brown color like most black teas). My impression is either that less tea was used, or that a gentl...

Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea from Teavana

Oct. 17th, 2010

The aroma of Gyokuro tea is very similar to fresh cut grass, rich and lively with distinctive notes of seaweed. I was very curious how the tea profile will hold up after steeping.
The taste is refreshing with reminiscent of seaweed and much sweeter aftertaste than regular Sencha. This tea is great for multiple infusio...

English Breakfast from Wedgwood

Oct. 14th, 2010

This is a CTC tea and it is insanely strong. I brewed for a little less than a minute, using less than a teaspoon of leaf, and it was still a bit strong for me. This tea is fairly aromatic; I'm not sure exactly the proportions that go in but I can definitely taste some Ceylon and what seems like possibly an Assam or ...

Toasted Rice Green - Gen Mai Cha from Numi Organic Tea

Style: Genmaicha – Region: ?????

40 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 13th, 2010

The name of this tea should be a clue as to what you are going to get. It tastes like burnt rice. It is an unusual tea and certainly can be enjoyable, but it's likely that many people won't like it (especially if you've ever eaten burnt rice and didn't like it).

Making multiple cups doesn't work very well, after th...

Oct. 13th, 2010

I always get excited when I see brands carry Lapsang Souchong, mostly because I can't imagine their consumer base for it is very large.

Numi's always tends to be pretty satisfying if not a bit thin and their Smoky Tarry blend is no exception. They really play up the smokey-ness in the aroma but then you take a sip ...

Virtually no aroma (which is fine with me). A mild but very good flavor. The strength of this tea is the fact that you don't notice it, you just enjoy it.

Earl Grey from Wedgwood

Oct. 13th, 2010

Broken-leaf, but not fannings like their English Breakfast. I brewed for only 1 minute. The cup was a very rich reddish brown color.

Aroma is extremely perfumey for an Earl Grey, and rather fruity and citrusy. Smells more like a normal orange than the bergamot orange too, and smells almost candy-like, but almost ...

Love this tea for its soothing qualities. It has an herbal flavor, and is not at all astringent. The predominant flavors are chamomile, cinnamon, and cardamom. Stevia is included in this blend and lends a sweet finish after every sip.

Flavor aside, this tea has some powerful sedative and anti-anxiety effects courtes...

The teabag contains pretty fine dust--I can't see any whole flowers. Smoother, but blander than other chamomiles. Nothing really jumps out about this one. Slightly more floral, slightly sweeter, less of the muted bitter aftertaste...but not terribly complex or strong either.

Decent but unremarkable. I think I'd ...

There's lemon, there's ginger, there's...something else. The flavor of tulsi, which is difficult to pin down, made the tea a little milder and earthier/grassier than I expected. An interesting after dinner option.

The nose is amazing, nectar-sweet and citrusy. The taste doesn't quite live up to it, but this is a light, pleasant herbal tea, fruity but without the sting of a zinger. Can be a little sour if oversteeped.

Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend

Oct. 6th, 2010

I'm generally a fan of Celestial Seasonings fruity herbal teas, but I was disappointed by this one. I found the taste rather cloying. Reading the description given here, I think "red fruit punch" is an apt comparison. I've never liked red fruit punch, so maybe this tea tastes better to those who did.

When I first tried this tea I had only noticed the "lemon ginger" part of the labeling and not the "tulsi" part. I wasn't expecting the additional flavor of the tulsi and I didn't like it much at first. Over time though, I've come to like it. The tulsi definitely adds a nice bit of savor and variety to the lemon ginger...
