Darjeeling Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India68 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 10th, 2019
The dry tea has the same basic smell of other blended Darjeelings. It's smells of dry leaves in autumn, a bit oaky and of raw pecans.
I tend to find Darjeeling teas to be somewhat more delicate than I'd prefer. This one is no exception, but I also wouldn't call it weak. It's lightly astringent with a very mild bitte...
Steep English Breakfast Fair Trade Certified Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jan. 10th, 2019
Without beating around the bush, this is a really good Sri Lankan/Ceylon tea. This seems to be one of the few brands of bagged tea that selected Sri Lankan tea for its flavors rather than for simply being "mild". This tea is remarkably similar in flavor to Ahmad and Alwazah branded Ceylon teas that are available from M...

Style: Flavored Tea – Region: ?????77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 10th, 2019
This is really interesting tea and not at all what I was expecting. The dry bag of chopped, dark tea smells like an oolong with a medium oxidation and roast. I couldn't smell any jasmine until after I added water, and even then it's faint.
I really like the way this tea smells. There's a heavy note of toasted flour,...
Peppermint Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: ?????75 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 9th, 2019
A really clean-tasting peppermint with a nice menthol finish. Slightly herbal, but no straw or hay flavors that lesser peppermint teas sometimes have.
Steep Pure Green Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????50 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 9th, 2019
The flavor of this tea is quite mild, but pleasant. There's a nice bitterness on the sides of the tongue and just enough astringency to feel a bit "fuzzy". There's a hint of cabbage or broccoli flavor with a hint of spiciness. This tea's a bit sweeter than other green teas.
I'm tasting this tea alongside several oth...
Green Tea - Classic from Bigelow Tea
Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????30 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 9th, 2019
I occasionally drink the decaffeinated version of this tea because it still tastes a bit like green tea. It turns out that that's exactly how the caffeinated version tastes—a bit like green tea. There's some vegetal freshness and a little grassy bitterness on the back of the tongue, but that's pretty much it. If you ...

Style: Green Tea – Region: Japan65 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 9th, 2019
As the other reviewers mentioned, ignore the directions. I prepared the tea using 8 ounces of 175°F water for four minutes (which is a bit longer than is generally suggested for green teas, but I find I like it that way).
The tea in the square, nylon bag is chopped, but not as finely as most bagged tea and is mixed...
Earl Grey Green Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Earl Grey Green Tea – Region: ?????30 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 8th, 2019
After trying the green tea version of Constant Comment and liking it, I'm really disappointed in the green Earl Grey. The bergamot flavoring is much lighter than in Bigelow's black tea Earl Grey, presumably to let the flavor of the green tea through, such as it is. The very light flavor of the base tea coupled with les...

Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 8th, 2019
As with the black tea version of Constant Comment, the dominant flavors are clove and orange peel. I'm tasting them both side-by-side at the moment and since Bigelow's green and black teas are both mild, the differences are subtle. The flavor of the green tea has a nice brightness and a faint hint of the grassy bittern...

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????58 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 2nd, 2019
Even before steeping, the teabag smells pungently of ginger.
The flavor is intense. Spicy ginger and lemongrass are the initial punch and the finish is lime. Some of the spice might be from the cinnamon, but I don't otherwise taste any of the other ingredients.
Drinking this offers a similar flavor to licking fre...
Peppermint Herbal Tea from Benner Tea Co
Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: ?????80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 26th, 2018
The peppermint is surprisingly good for the price and has plenty of flavor and menthol. There's just enough of an herbal, grassy flavor so it doesn't taste like a candy cane.
For drinkers of grocery store peppermint tea bags, Benner is as good as Bigelow or Celestial Seasonings, but significantly less expensive, $1....
Mint Medley® Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Mint Tea – Region: ?????55 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 12th, 2018
Both the dry and brewed tea smell almost like Wrigley's Doublemint gum with the balance a little more toward peppermint.
The taste is not what I was expecting. The tea is definitely minty, but as the ingredients include rose hips, lemon peel and hibiscus, I was expecting some fruitiness. Of the extra ingredients, I ...
Plantation Mint® Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Black Tea with Mint – Region: ?????45 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 12th, 2018
Both the dry tea bag and brewing tea smell like straight-up spearmint oil.
Bigelow's base tea is too mild to stand up to the spearmint and I can neither taste nor smell any tea at all. Aside from the color, this is indistinguishable from plain spearmint. The spearmint is good, but I expect to taste tea in my tea.

Assam Tea from 24 Mantra Organic
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 9th, 2018
I bought this tea as a grey market item from a nearby Indian grocery store. Lately, I've tried and enjoyed a number of teas from Indian brands and this one is no exception.
As far as appearance, the dry CTC "crumbs" are larger and slightly lighter in color than those of most other CTC teas. The brewing tea reminds m...
China Green Tips Filterbag from Tazo Tea
Style: Mao Feng Green Tea – Region: Zhejiang, China75 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 4th, 2018
The dry tea in the bag is chopped quite fine, but smells really nice. Once the water's added, the aroma of the young tips comes through very clearly, smelling very similar to silver needle white teas.
The first taste is surprisingly sweet with a strong vegetal finish. The flavor is strong even while hot, but there's...
Authentic Green Tea with White Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Green and White Blend – Region: ?????65 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 2nd, 2018
I drink quite a bit of the decaffeinated version of this tea, but had never tried the regular, caffeinated type and had the opportunity to.
Celestial Seasonings doesn't individually wrap its tea bags, but they are sealed together in a pouch made of waxed paper. The tea in the square, tagless bags is chopped fine.

Nana Mint with Ginger and Lemon from Wissotzky
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend73 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 2nd, 2018
The tea's aroma is an almost equal balance of spearmint ("Nana Mint") and ginger. The mint is of good quality, with no stems apparent and no off flavors that are sometimes apparent in cheaper mint teas. Unfortunately, Wissotzky seems to have decided that all of their herbal teas, including this one, need to be sweetene...

Style: High Mountain Oolong – Region: ?????72 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 27th, 2018
Unfortunately, neither the packaging nor website offers any information about the source of this tea. The tea is a lightly fermented, rolled oolong with a light to medium roast.
The tea is rolled very tightly and is rather dense. The dry aroma is of toasted bread and hazelnuts.
I brewed this tea western-style for...
Japanese Green Tea from Wei-Chuan
Style: Green Tea – Region: Japan35 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 7th, 2018
Wei-Chuan has several different tiers of tea and this one is on the low end.
The tea bag smells very faintly of hay. Adding the water doesn't really bring out any extra aroma. The flavor's almost as weak as the tea smells. While hot, the flavor is practically nonexistent. When it cools down, a little flavor appears ...
Classic Blend from Benner Tea Co
Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????25 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 13th, 2018
The standard tea bags are wrapped in paper, so if they're not put into an airtight container, they'll probably start to go stale before the box of 100 is finished. The dry tea looks like a blend of orthodox and CTC produced teas and smells smoky, malty and a bit like fresh straw.
The brewed tea is disappointing. The...
Constant Comment® from Bigelow Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????55 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 24th, 2018
I like decaf Constant Comment, but hadn't gotten around to trying the original version. It turns out, it's not much different. I can taste a little of the maltiness in the finish, but that's about it. I already know that decaf black teas have little tea flavor, but I was hoping there would be more in this one. A bit of...

Style: Green Tea – Region: Taiwan / Formosa72 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Aug. 21st, 2018
Tradition's "Smaragdine" (which just means "emerald-like") green tea is a longjing (dragon well) style tea from Taiwan. The sachets hold just under three grams of full-leaf tea that has some tips.
Like most green teas, it benefits from cooler water (165°) and shorter steeping times. The review is based on four minu...
Earl Grey Supreme (Teabags) from Harney and Sons
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend69 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jul. 25th, 2018
Like the other standard tea bags from H&S, the tea is chopped very fine. Dry, it smells strongly of the bergamot oil, but there's also a maltiness from the tea. It's not strong, but it's a step up from many Earl Grey teas.
Adding the water unexpectedly mutes the aroma. The citrus fades to the background and the tea...
Darjeeling Tea from Lipton Tea
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India72 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Jul. 18th, 2018
Lipton Darjeeling Tea used to be known as "Lipton Green Label" and is packaged for sale in India. I buy this tea as a gray market item at a local Indian convenience store.
This tea is better quality than one might expect from Lipton and is overall a medium-quality Darjeeling. The tea appears to be mostly whole, smal...
True Blueberry® Herbal Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: ?????57 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jul. 16th, 2018
This fruit tea smells just like crushed blueberries. Sipping the tea emphasizes the tartness and astringency of the hibiscus and rosehips that seem to be in all fruit tea these days. The finish tastes like canned blueberry pie filling.
The flavoring in this is too heavy. I think I'd just prefer the hibiscus and rose...
