Sweet Dreams Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: ?????57 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 21st, 2016
Have you ever tried to mix paints and stopped before the colors blended, when you had a swirl of mostly separate colors instead of the full, distinct, evenly distributed hue for which you aimed? This is the herbal-tea equivalent.
Better aroma than taste...this tea can't establish its identity inside the mouth, so...
Cinnamon Apple Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 17th, 2016
Not even realizing I had a bag of this, I discovered it while digging in my pantry's tea shelves for something else. Guess my wife won't miss just one bag, eh...especially if there was only one in there. ;-)
Overall, I liked this tea a lot. The real apple pieces are quite visible inside the bag, and impart the gr...
Mandarin Orange Spice from China Mist
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 15th, 2016
Here's another tea I got at a motel breakfast area, but that can be ordered online. If you're familiar with Bigelow's Constant Comment, the taste is a slightly lower-order approximation of that, but without cloves, about the same orange level, similar strength but slightly lower quantity of black tea. Much weaker aro...

Whoa, where to start with this sublime face-slapper. Perhaps the best one-word characterization of both the smell and aroma, in a good way, is "explosive".
Because there are so many ingredients, all natural and organic, more discriminating palates than mine probably can conjure up all manner of nuances, notes, un...
Earl Grey -- Kericho Highlands Estate from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Kenya70 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 13th, 2016
Wow, if the name of this tea were any longer, it would need to be hauled in on a freight train. Fortunately the flavor still is there by the time one is finished reciting its name. :-)
This for now is a food-service tea, apparently different than Numi's "Aged Earl Grey" (which I have not tasted yet), and offered...
Irish Breakfast from Murchie's Tea & Coffee Ltd
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 13th, 2016
I haven't tried many Irish style (Afternoon or Breakfast) teas, so my opinions thereon may not be worth the electrons wasted to paint these letters across your screen. Regardless, I haven't had a bad one yet. Murchie's various black-tea offerings have proven to be right up in the top echelon of any black teas I've ha...

Since several folks reading this site may travel to Europe at some point and be tempted to buy some in the ubiquitous SPAR supermarkets, let this be a warning.
Upon seeing this on the tea shelves, I thought, "European, herbal, organic...must be good, right?" Since they won't permit customers to tear open a box an...
Simply Mint (Organic) from China Mist
Style: Mint Tea – Region: ?????57 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 12th, 2016
As I mentioned in a review for Badia's mint blend, spearmint is a flavor I tend to avoid, even in blends, as for me it dilutes or detracts from peppermint. That said, this seemed to strike a good balance such that the peppermint still dominates and is the featured ingredient. The spearmint sits in the background, mas...

My daughter originally brought a tin of this tea back from her visit to Ireland, as a gift to my wife, and my wife was instantly hooked. She just craves this tea. After trying some I see why. It's her favorite Irish tea, and mine as well (with Murchie's being a close second). In fact, I'd drink more than the few ba...

The regal, royal language on the packaging and website convey an image of heavenly bliss upon being graced with the blessing of having this tea's flavor touch one's tongue. Well, it ain't that spectacular, but this curiously named offering is fairly delicious.
As sometimes is the case, I got an unopened and seale...
Estate Blend Tea from Bromley Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

You could do worse. I got this as a default black tea served at a local breakfast joint in Tulsa (at least they don't use Lipton like seemingly 99.99999% of everyone else!). Yes, it's richer than Lipton (not hard to accomplish), and not bad overall on the flavor side, but with a rather feeble aroma, both in the bag a...

Looking at the teabag boxes in-store, I wasn't sure if this would be a worthy purchase or not. I never had tried vanilla-flavored EG black tea before. With a combination of:
1) The really sweet, pleasant smell of the loose-leaf sampler as I crushed some between fingers and
2) The favorable Canadian/U.S. dollar e...
American Breakfast from Bigelow Tea
Style: Energy Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

As black-tea blends go, this is a bit above-average in my experience, and worth purchasing at a discount if you seek a coffee alternative with a caffeine kick. Mine was supplied at a hotel, and I took a couple extra bags home to try in my own well water for fair-comparison's sake.
Bigelow delivers extra caffeine ...
Oriental Treasure Green Tea from Bentley's Tea

An unopened and sealed box of 20 bags was available at an estate sale, so I grabbed it with no particular expectations. It delivered no particular impression, so I guess you can say expectations were met! :-)
The tea tasted like a fairly standard-order green tea, neither bad nor excellent in any given way. It is...
English Breakfast from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

As with their Chamomile (which was a good bit better), I got a few bags of this blend as a hotel guest in edifices where this was provided in-room, in individually wrapped bags. I hoped for more. The tea was surprisingly bitter and rather plain in taste, without any originality or uniqueness. I'd expect that from a ...

I finally tried a couple bags of this preparation after having had some great iced tea made partially therewith (more below). The black tea is rich and smooth, as has been my experience with other Stash bags.
My main complaint about this tea is that the peach part of the flavor is not really good or bad, just "th...

Chamomile to me is much like peppermint.
[Wait, wait, wait!!! Hear me out before you threaten to have my account deleted, my Internet access suspended, and some guys in green gowns wrap me in a straitjacket and haul me away to the rubber room.]
No, I did not mean in terms of its taste. Instead, as with pepperm...
Jasmine Green Tea from Bigelow Tea

Remarkably for its rather weak aroma, the flavor of the tea is reasonably robust after several minutes of steeping. I found this tea offered in the daily coffee-break session of a professional conference, and liked it. Not many others did, so there were plenty of leftover bags to grab and bring home. :-) I agree wi...

Nov. 12th, 2016
This offering has been rebranded simply, "Premium Tea".
It offers a rich, dark color and flavor after steeping for 5 minutes instead of the recommended 2, but that does come at the expense of quite noticeably more bitterness than usual for most black teas I've immersed that long. I'm not big on bitterness, nor c...
Organic African Nectar from Mighty Leaf Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 12th, 2016
This is quite close to Murchie's "Cozy Caramel Rooibos" for the tastiest African redbush tea I've had so far. I got this earlier today from a kiosk in the Portland airport, where the clerk dropped two decent-sized sachets of this in a large cup for me. Never even heard of it before...
The floral and vanilla levels...
Cozy Caramel Rooibos from Murchie's Tea & Coffee Ltd
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 4th, 2016
As noted in my review of Trader Joe's rooibos, its earthy, haystraw-like flavor was something of a turn-off at first, but grew on me with time. This strongly flavored rooibos from Murchie's, which uses apple pieces and calendula petals as well as caramel flavoring, bypasses the "grow on you" stage and thrusts itself s...

The tea tastes much like Murchie's Afternoon Tea (formerly Empress Afternoon), and also is a blend of black teas from various regions, but has a slightly weaker aroma--hence the slightly lower rating. Regardless, the flavor is similarly rich and full, the body robust, the color dense and dark after a 5-minute bath (wi...

Upon seeing this new tea for sale in the Victoria Murchie's store, there was no question I would get it and like it. Murchie's consistently delivers good to great tea, and blueberry is one of my favorite flavors; therefore, I bought a 50-bag box straight up.
The risk was rewarded. The green tea shines through an...
Maple Tea from Metropolitan Tea Company

I first tried some of this tea back in 2006 after seeing it in some tourist shops in Victoria, BC. [This review is posted ten years later after getting some more, also in Victoria.] The stuff is expensive; after all, retail markups are pretty steep for anything marketed as characteristically Canadian in such places. ...

Up front, I'm not a big fan of spearmint, as it too often is used to dominate and dilute the peppermint in such blends. The former makes great gum, but rather lame teas that too often remind of cough medicine. Had I paid closer attention when buying a small pack of this tea in a Miami Publix, I would have left it on ...
