Sleepytime Herbal Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 8th, 2016
Similarly to Brytta (below) I much prefer peppermint to spearmint; yet the balance with lemongrass and chamomile seems to work here. This isn't the Ambien of tea and won't knock you out, but instead, is a smooth, easy, comfortable tea to slow-pour down one's gullet a couple hours before bedtime. A friend with similar...

Constant Comment® from Bigelow Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????93 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 8th, 2016
One of my top few tea blends from any company, anywhere... every whiff and sip of this tea is a trip straight to Christmastime, all year 'round. I like strong, unambiguous teas, and the nearly perfect blend of orange, cinnamon and cloves ("sweet spice" that you can reverse engineer easily by emptying the used, dried b...

Love Story from Basilur

I'm a dude. This tea is marketed to the ladies in a blatant, pandering, almost cartoonishly patronizing way with its pinkish packaging, "book of tea" self-characterization, cursive script, and use of phrases like, "mystify your senses," "reminisce romantic, unforgettable memories", and "fantasize many more years of lo...

Chocolate Mint from Harney and Sons
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 1/5
Apr. 8th, 2016
If chocolate can infuse beer, of all things, why not tea? Especially for those of us who sweeten tea, cocoa is a natural enhancement. Opening the tin, the rich aroma of chocolate and mint wafts skyward in delicious profusion. If only the flavor were as thick as the smell! Drinking it, I can detect the chocolate a l...

Coconut Green Tea With Lemongrass and Ginger from Trader Joe's
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend83 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 15th, 2016
Even though I like the flavor of coconut -- a lot -- I admit a great deal of skepticism upon learning of the new existence of this tea. Coconut in tea? The idea struck me as one of these "Be different just to be different" deals, destined to go the way of others such as 7Up Gold or Crystal Pepsi in sodas. Maybe it is...

Fenchel from Teekanne
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

Fennel is an herb that tastes loosely similar to star anise, but not as strong; it reminds me of a blend of star anise and linden flowers. Therefore, folks who like the licorice flavor but not as intense (and with a slight floral veneer) will enjoy this product. While I'm not madly over heels in love with the flavor,...

Organic Fairtrade Rooibos & Honeybush Tea from Trader Joe's
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: South Africa62 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
I've tried only a couple of Rooibos teas--one whilst traveling through Austria last year (can't recall the brand but it was a little muddy-tasting), and this one that appears fairly new.
Rooibos is an earthy, woody, somewhat grassy flavor that either grows on you or not. It has on me after initially not being ver...

Candy Cane Lane from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: Blend93 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
I agree with the sentiments below that this tea doesn't quite match its absolutely sublime scent, but also, to me very few teas do.
Regardless, this is one of my top 2 or 3 favorite herbals (another one by CS, Tension Tamer, is up there as well). This tea is very smooth, minty and creamy, natively sweet, and as a...

Jasmine Green Tea from Twinings
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: ?????23 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 2/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
Wow, where to start...this "tea" is not, in any shape or form, worthy of a brand of such tradition and repute. A friend sold me a box he brought back from jolly ol' England, and after drinking just one bag's worth, I wanted to bust him in his jolly ol' mouth. Fortunately for him, I tried three more bags (in one cup, ...

Star Anise Tea (Chinese) from Badia
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
Having lived in Miami for a few years, I'm quite familiar with and mostly a big fan of this brand of spices. They do justice to their spice line with this tea. I've only tried a few anise teas, but theirs is the richest, by far. Every time I go, I bring some back; fortunately it's available commonly in the local cha...

Jasmine Green Tea from Trader Joe's
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
Admittedly I've only tried two jasmine green teas so far--Twinings and Trader Joe's, and I thought Twinings was beyond lame. So I may be too jaded by a crappy experience with another brand. That said...
By comparison, TJ's is much more flavorful and "jasminy", but it could be far stronger still both for the base t...

Irish Breakfast from Trader Joe's
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Assam, India60 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
This is a moderately tasty, smooth, full tea--especially for a store brand; but then again, Trader Joe's has surprised me in a pleasant way with most of their selections. It's one of the few black teas I've tried where the taste is a lot fuller than the aroma.
Not quite a match for a real Irish tea such as Connem...

English Afternoon from Ahmad Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend83 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 2/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
I didn't see a place on here for their loose-leaf version of this tea, but in general my impressions are the same (if more favorably numbered) than Alex Zorach's below. No tea on Earth is too strong for me, but I'll at least call this one worthy of the adjective "strong". The value ranking is the only thing holding i...

Tension Tamer from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????93 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
Tension Tamer is top notch, my favorite CS tea alongside Candy Cane Lane (but for different reasons). The flavor is pleasantly strong and spicy, yet still mellow and relaxing, very befitting its advertised role as a comfort food of the tea world. This is best consumed in front of a fireplace or under a blanket on a c...

Double Bergamot Earl Grey Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????90 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5

So far, this is my favorite EG, because it's less expensive than similarly robust English teas but comparable in body and richness. This tea hits you with a hearty dose of bergamot, exactly as advertised. No pretension, no fanciful attempts at backtaste or mystery...and I like it that way. It's a tea John Wayne migh...

Earl Grey from Bigelow Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
As Earl Greys go, this is about average. Decent, but somewhat flat. Bigelow seems to pride themselves on black-tea quality, and their other flavored teas seem to back up such sentiment.
This, however, is a tea that smells far stronger and better in its packaging than it brews out. The bergamot seems muted, unde...

Darjeeling (Loose) from Hampstead Tea
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
My daughter brought this tea back from a trip to England, so my "value" rating may be biased by the excessive price she paid in a souvenir store.
In short: not the best nor the worst tea I've had...tolerable..slightly below average. The flavor isn't bad, but isn't strong enough, and it just doesn't have a lot of ...

Wild Sweet Orange from Tazo Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????73 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 11th, 2016
I agree with the other reviewers here who state that the flavor doesn't pack the potency the aroma implies. I could sniff the packaging of this tea all day long; the scent is almost intoxicating. It smells like one of the old descriptions Tazo used to use on the side of the boxes, to the effect of, "biting into a fres...

My daughter came back from London with this tea packaged in little cubic tins featuring buses and other London sights. As such, my "value" rating is lower than it could be because she paid a tourist premium at a souvenir shop. I'd buy this without hesitation for normal American store prices.
One of the better lo...
