Apr. 29th, 2010
note: the tea i'm reviewing is labeled as 'uplifting earl grey.' i am assuming that they've recently changed the name to 'earl greater grey.' when i see the new version around, i'll give it a try. i'll update this review if the new version is a different product.
aroma: strong, pungent, citrus. they have infused ...

South African Rooibos (Red Bush) Super Grade from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Rooibos – Region: South Africa67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 29th, 2010
At the risk of sounding absolutely ridiculous, I'm going to say that this rooibos smells and tastes more like rooibos than any other rooibos I've tried yet!
Woody, with a hint of fruitiness...but also a quality that is slightly reminiscent of paint or socks. Perhaps rooibos is an acquired taste that I'm still not 1...

Organic Silver Needle from California Tea House

Organic Pure Green Tea (Premium Green Tea Organic) from Bigelow Tea
Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????37 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Apr. 29th, 2010
Brewed for 4 minutes with water that had cooled well below boiling, it brews an opaque golden color.
Aroma is mostly flat. There's a hint of a very pleasant floral quality, but it's overshadowed by a cardboard-like quality that basically ruins it for me. Ignoring the aroma, the flavor is good. Slightly tangy, wit...

India Breakfast Tulsi Tea from Organic India
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: India70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 29th, 2010
This tea is smooth and balanced and the way it makes you feel is smooth and balanced as well. It's a bit like a masal chai/spiced tea since the tulsi imparts clove and other spicy aromas. The tulsi is strong enough that I can't really say all that much about the quality of the tea, but whatever tea is used blends wel...

Just for Kids Organic Throat Coat® from Traditional Medicinals
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend40 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 28th, 2010
preface: i'm a huge fan of the real 'organic throat coat' tea. i love the flavor and aroma.
i had the misfortune of trying the 'just for kids' version. basically, while it has some of the same ingredients, the blend is far from identical. i guess it's an alright licorice-tasting tea, but the magic of the original...

Throat Coat® from Traditional Medicinals
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 28th, 2010
i'll start by saying that i drink this 'tea' simply because i love the flavor. i'm not reviewing this to vouch for its efficacy in the treatment of any condition.
i'll continue by saying that everyone, with the exception of one or two people, that i've given a cup of this to did not care for it flavor-wise.
ingr...

Orange Ginger Mint from Republic of Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 28th, 2010
This is by far my favorite tea from Republic of Tea yet. Strong and complex aroma, mostly herbaceous with a bit of spice: thyme is dominant, but with a lot of other things going on...the ginger and anise are also particularly noticeable. Very full-bodied--among the richest herbal teas I've tried. Close to my ideal a...

Pure Oolong (Formerly China Oolong) from Twinings
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Fujian, China50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 28th, 2010
The first sip of this oolong was delightful, but upon drinking a whole cup of it I wasn't as much of a fan. Significantly lighter than a black tea, the aroma is very floral, bordering on perfumey. Upon drinking more than a few sips, however, a lot of unpleasant qualities develop...there's a sourness, and some off qua...

Chai (formerly Indian Spiced Chai) from Twinings
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Apr. 28th, 2010
The package recommends to brew for 4-6 minutes...I brewed for four. The black tea in this teabag was exceptionally weak--the cup was a clear reddish color, and I brewed with only about 6oz. of water. However, the lack of a bold black tea presence was made up for by a strong aroma of spice.
There are different spic...

Lemon Grass, Coarse Cut from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Lemongrass – Region: Thailand70 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 28th, 2010

Koslanda Estate OP from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Uva, Sri Lanka63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 26th, 2010
Upton suggests that this tea has "raisin like nuances" and I'd go even father and be more direct: it smells and tastes a like raisins, and leaves an aftertaste of raisins! Smooth but without being weak. A fair amount of the rice-like quality that I find in many Ceylon teas, and almost a hint of wintergreen. Medium-b...
