this seems like a well-balanced 2nd flush darjeeling. i imagine that this is basically what an archetypical 2nd flush tea should be. some muskiness, nuttiness, bitterness, and astringency. no single element is really overwhelming.
good tea

the dry leaves have a chocolaty and nutty aroma.
the musky flavor and aroma does come out when brewed. a somewhat nutty flavor. a fairly well balanced second-flush darjeeling at a pretty good value. i drink this one regularly.

not a lot of bitterness.
definitely a tea i return to frequently.

I was disapointed in this after having such great things to say about their English Breakfast Tea. It does have a nice full body, but its still on the bitter side. On the other hand, it would probably make a good base for iced tea mixed with fruit.

No matter how I make it or what I add, I can never seem to brighten the flavor of this tea. It manages to be both bland and bitter, but it does its job well on the days when you just need something hot to drink (and can't taste anything).

Very malty aroma, but smooth flavor, almost sweet, like a smooth Assam. Aroma and dark color of the cup suggests a strong tannic character, but I found this tea to be far from overly tannic. Aroma has a hint of raisins, and some herbaceous tones too. Some bitterness and astringency, but overall, much less than I'd e...

I really enjoy this Yunnan. Great aroma. Excellent flavor. I make a large pot and keep it in a thermos and sip all day. I never add milk or sugar, but it might be a bit "strong" alone for some tastes.

I love Lapsang Souchong and Lupicia don't do it any harm! A wonderful smokey aroma and rich flavor without any sour aftertaste. Really satisfying overall, and good with milk too!

i am just your average tea drinker, not really a connoisseur, just a chick who loves tea. this is the only darjeeling i've ever tried, but i really loved it. i remember the first cup i ever drank, it was quite an experience. i was very impressed. the flavor was so... intricate, somehow.

This tea has an inviting campfire-smoke aroma, but tastes very, very smoky, almost meaty, to the exclusion of the basic tea flavor. If you're looking for a less intense smoky flavor, try the Scottish Breakfast (still a little strong for me) or the Russian Caravan (which I love).

English Breakfast from Harney and Sons
Style: English Breakfast – Region: China90 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
May. 16th, 2010
Confusingly, the Harney & Sons website says this stuff is 100% Keemun, while the canister implies it's a blend of Keemun and other unnamed black teas. It tastes like Keemun, though, a little smoky, with that vaguely graphite-y aroma. It's pretty smooth, easy to drink without any accoutrements, and has a good, strong, b...

This has a nice smoky flavor, but not too smoky - I can't handle full-strength Lapsang Souchong or even Scottish Breakfast, but this one is blended with other teas in a proportion that I find quite drinkable. (I think it's something like 1/4 Lapsang Souchong, but I don't remember for sure.) It's a great rainy-day tea, ...

Aroma rather complex...there's a hint of maltiness like an Assam, and a fairly strong presence of the light, clean quality of a high-grown Ceylon (as from Nuwara Eliya), and there are some spicy tones as well, including a hint of clove...and it oddly also has a suggestion of orange in there too.
Flavor is very sour....

May. 11th, 2010
Well....about all I can say for this tea is that it is a cut above the Lipton teabags. Although I'm not sure I can even say that, because the teabags possess an unmistakable musty flavor that, although not particularly tasty, is unique. This is just mediocre black tea.

Assam Gold Rain Black Tea from Teavana
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
May. 2nd, 2010
The dry leaf is by far the fruitiest-smelling Assam that I have yet encountered...but upon brewing it's a little less fruity. This is a very strong tea...when brewed it's maltier than fruity, and has a fairly tannic aftertaste like Teavana describes. Bitter and somewhat astringent...I've had much smoother Assams.

English Breakfast Black Tea from Bigelow Tea

In my opinion, this is the best straight black tea from Bigelow and it really stands out among the rest of their offerings. It's a fairly powerful black tea, but it also has some complexity in the aroma...some of the tones suggest that there's a bit of Darjeeling mixed in with whatever else is this blend.

very powerful in both flavor and aroma. a very smokey smell. many people i've offered it to told me it smells like a camp fire. i definitely smell the terpenes (chemicals from the pine wood).
i am a big fan of this tea, but it is definitely not for everyone. ...
