Organic Honeybush Herbal Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Honeybush – Region: South Africa57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 31st, 2011
Aroma strongly peppery, much more so than a typical honeybush. Only slightly fruity. Very flavorful: a rich flavor with some bite, more like black tea, but with a smoother aftertaste. Mild, earthy finish.
Relatively simple and staightforward, but pleasing. Above-average for the quality I'd expect from a teabag.
Kenyan Black Tea - Loose Tea from Ajiri Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: Kisii, Kenya77 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 30th, 2011
This is a tasty but basic black tea, with a great cause. The leaves are tiny, dark, and pellet-like. Not what I was expecting, but I didn't want to judge on just the leaf appearance alone. The leaves have a lovely sweet cocoa scent.
after steeping, the liquor tastes of whole wheat toast, and dark chocolate. It is a...
Pinhead Gunpowder from thepuriTea
Style: Gunpowder Green Tea – Region: China70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 28th, 2011
To my mind, these are not pinheads, which I think are supposed to be smaller than regular gunpowder tea, as they are pretty good sized. I brewed it for about a minute and found it to be floral and vegetal, but also seemed to carry some sesame seed in it. The second infusion was for 1.5 minutes and smelled more floral...

Oh boy, this is a super-duper good jasmine. It is tied for first place for me, as it is so different from my other favorite. It is very very flora, without being cloying. The taste is thoroughly Jasmine and I really can't say enough good about it. It will go for several short infusions and it is great fun to watch th...

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????76 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 28th, 2011
This really tastes like a masala chai more than any other herbal blend I've ever tried; I think someone could even fool me with it, perhaps until I noticed that it's less caffeinated. The color is a rich red, like most masala chai blends.
Aroma is mostly of clove but with significant cinnamon presence. It's so har...
Red Robe Oolong from thepuriTea
Style: Da Hong Pao – Region: Wuyi, Fujian, China100 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 28th, 2011
To me this dry tea smelled like one of my favorite aromas - mac and cheese. The first infusion was a combination of a floral, with raisins and caramel, with a tiny hint of smoke. The second was more floral and sweeter, with more raisin in it.. As it cooled, it developed a certain fruitiness that reminded me of peache...

Style: Black Tea – Region: Yunnan, China93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 28th, 2011
These chickpea sized balls of tea are too cute. They look like miniature rag balls that weavers or braiders use in making rugs. There is a definite scent of chocolate and dried leaves to them. As they brew, this continues and you are rewarded with a lovely smooth, sweet malty drink. There is a nice litle kick of ast...

Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: Yunnan, China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 28th, 2011
This is a superb tea. It is very rich, very sweet, with a bit of a pepper kick to ground it. I am a huge fan of Yunnan and while this isn't the very best Yunnan, (that would be wasted in a blend) it is of high enough quality to carry the very good Jasmine. This is not an ethereal Jasmine, but a very solid one. I p...

Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend17 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Mar. 27th, 2011
I received this tea bag from a trade when visiting some friends.
I was not impressed with this one. The aroma is flat and I find that the orange and sencha simply do not go well together (this is the second orange-flavored sencha I've tried and I really don't like it.) Flavor is unpleasantly sour.
I also think ...
Wild tea Orchid Fairy Twig, first day harvest from Life in Teacup
Style: Green Tea – Region: Wuyuan, Jiangxi, China83 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 24th, 2011
I have only tried one other green tea from Wuyuan, but there was something very distinctive about this tea that reminded me of that first tea, Upton's ZG36, as soon as I took the first sip. Both teas share a particularly distinctive grassy aroma, with both floral and vegetal tones.
This tea, on the other hand, has...

why are the bags now PAPER GAUZE? I m very disappointed that Morses and King Cole tea bags are not real gauze anymore.

This brews a deep red cup. The aromas blend well, but the cinnamon has an artificial quality to it. I can notice the base rooibos, but the flavorings slightly overpower it. The whole blend is full-bodied, and naturally rather sweet.
I would like this blend, if it were not for the artificial cinnamon aroma. With ...

Mar. 20th, 2011
I wasn't sure how pear and white tea would taste, but it isn't too bad. Not one of my favorites, but it does have a sweetness and delicacy that makes this tea ultra smooth.
I find it to be a soothing tea and enjoy drinking it mostly on a cold, dreary day.
I can taste a little vanilla in it, which I find quite ...
Peach Cool Brew Iced Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 20th, 2011
This tea was given to me as a gift, and it is quite good. It is very easy to make, since you only need cold water, and makes really fast, really peachy tea.
Adding sugar enhances the peach and sweetness, but even alone it isn't bad, especially if you make it a little strong.
It goes down easy and is perfect wh...
Chocolate Caramel Enchantment® Chai from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 20th, 2011
My husband actually picked this tea out himself one day awhile back. He love caramel and chocolate, and likes Chai tea. He really enjoyed the flavor of this tea.
I didn't like it simply because I cannot palate caramel. However, I can say that it has a nice blend of the flavors and mixes with chai well. Adding mi...
Antioxidant Supplement Plum White Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Fruit White Tea – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 20th, 2011
I can't say I really like this tea. It is a smooth tea, but the flavors of plum mixed with white tea isn't the best. It has an "off flavor."
While the tea isn't what I would call bad, it just doesn't have the sweetness I'd prefer. But, at least it is smooth and contains antioxidants.
Finest Darjeeling from Jacksons of Piccadilly
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 17th, 2011
Generous on the leaf--the teabag reads 2.5 grams, an amount similar to what I'd use for one cup when using loose-leaf tea, and it makes me realize how much a lot of companies skimp on the leaf.
This is a broken-leaf Darjeeling, with smallish pieces of leaf . The leaf is highly heterogeneous in color: many of the le...
English Breakfast from Red Rose Tea
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 17th, 2011
I had the opportunity to sample this a couple times. The second time I had a fresher sample and it tasted noticeably better. The tea bag smelled malty, which was a good sign!
Brews a rich, dark color. Flavor is weaker than I expect from this style: not very bitter, and aroma is less malty than I like. Compared t...
Mint Tea from Badia
Style: Mint Tea – Region: ?????63 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 17th, 2011
It's not totally clear from the packaging exactly what this is made of, but the description suggests that it's a blend of peppermint and spearmint, and I think this is probably true after trying it.
Aroma is more peppermint than spearmint, but unlike some mint blends, there is definitely a balance. There is less of...
St. John’s Wort Blues Away from Yogi Tea
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 16th, 2011
I picked a single teabag of this up...not enough to judge its antidepressant effects (supposedly it takes weeks to notice anything), but I was curious what it tasted like.
Brewing as instructed (10+ minutes) it produces a complex aroma of herbs, earth, licorice, and fennel. There are a lot of different ingredients ...
Mt. Wu Dong Mi Lan (Honey Orchid) Dan Cong from Life in Teacup
Style: Dancong Oolong – Region: Guangdong, China80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 15th, 2011
I often find Dan Congs to be fascinatingly complex teas, and this one is no exception. This tea I also found a bit easier to work with, in that it was easy for me to bring out the qualities that I enjoy most. It was a little more like a Wuyi oolong in overall character than other dancong I've tried. The dry leaf is ...

This tea has a pleasant vanilla flavored aroma. It's very good. It has a perfect blend of spices, although a little more cinnamon that I would like. I had to steep it for 6 minutes to get it strong enough, and with most teas I only need 3 minutes. I like to drink it with cream and sugar.

I was drinking this as a beverage, not a medicinal tea, so I made a single 3-minute infusion instead of the recommended 10-15 minute one. I imagine it might get a bit too strong if brewed that much: 3 minutes was plenty strong and even perhaps a bit too much.
The cup is greenish brown, like some mild black teas. A...
