Tropical Goji Green from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Fruit Green Tea – Region: Blend57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 10th, 2009
Aroma sweet-suggesting, slightly fruity but not overly so. The tea and berries seem to blend very well, and in spite of the addition of "natural tropical flavors" this doesn't have a particularly artificial taste. Smooth but tangy. A lot of dust gets through the teabag and sinks to the bottom of the cup, but this do...

Lemon Ginger Herbal Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Oct. 10th, 2009
Very strong aroma, mostly of ginger, and a lot of lemongrass. A hint of tanginess but overall pretty smooth and not too sour. I really like this one.
This tea can be used for a second infusion or even a third, but all but the first cup have only a weak lemon quality and are mostly like ginger tea. If you want a m...

Ginger Peach Decaf from Republic of Tea
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 5th, 2009
I really like this tea. Very peachy with a hint of ginger and only a weak presence of black tea--but that's typical for a decaf tea. While I don't particularly like the black tea, the ginger is noticeable, which I like, and I tend to like the quality of the peach aroma...it's strong and fruity while seeming fairly na...

Asian Jasmine 100% White Tea from Republic of Tea
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: Fujian, China47 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 5th, 2009
This is a very simple tea...the aroma is un-jasmine-like...more fruity. The flavor is weak but very smooth and there is some body to this tea. Pleasant but unremarkable. Reasonably priced.

Herbal Unwind - Egyptian Camomile and Apple from Twinings
Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend27 / 100 Aroma: 1/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 5th, 2009
An artificial-seeming green apple aroma dominates this tea...there's only a hint of everything else. I had trouble enjoying this one; it was totally unbalanced and seemed unnatural.

Chamomile from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: Egypt70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 4th, 2009
Less fruity and a little more grass or straw in the aroma when compared to other chamomile teas. A tiny bit of sourness in the aftertaste, but otherwise clean and fresh tasting. Definitely one of the better chamomile teas I've tried. Full-bodied and rich.
A bit on the expensive side, but not too unreasonable give...

Darjeeling from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 4th, 2009
This used to be the best Darjeeling I've had in a tea bag...and better than some loose-leaf ones I've tried. I have since come to prefer Ahmad's Darjeeling though, which is much cheaper.
Fairly light, but still with some bite. This is the sort of Darjeeling tea that I like. The aroma has some interesting complexi...

Organic Spring Jasmine from Mighty Leaf Tea
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: China43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 1/5
Oct. 4th, 2009
An average Jasmine green tea. Drinkable, but very run-of-the-mill and somewhat generic tasting.
The price-tag is astronomical. I recommend avoiding this one; you can buy better Jasmine teas from any number of sources, even in teabags. Also, I think Mighty Leaf's other offerings are much better.

White Orchard from Mighty Leaf Tea
Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: China57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 4th, 2009
The aroma is mild and is mostly of fruit. There is a hint of bitterness, but the tea aroma is overshadowed by the fruit. Overall, this tea is very similar to the "Green Tea Tropical" by Mighty Leaf. This tea tastes slightly more bitter to me and has slightly more tea and less fruit in the aroma, so I prefer it.

Formosa Amber Oolong Select from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Amber Oolong – Region: Taiwan / Formosa93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Oct. 4th, 2009
The dry leaves were not very aromatic, but when I brewed it...wow.
This tea has a very rich and complex aroma: bold, earthy, with some nutty and woody tones, and a floral quality as well. Of all the teas I've tried from Upton, this is the one which seems to deviate the most from its lower-grade counterpart--this ha...

Assam from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India68 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 4th, 2009
Mellow, smooth, rich malty flavor. Deep red color; little bitterness or astringency. Very enjoyable. I find this tea grows on me. There is a suggestion of sweet fruit in the aroma, almost like baked apples.
Two leaves and a bud recommends a 4-minute infusion. I prefer a 2-minute infusion followed by a second 4-...

Tamayokucha from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Tamaryokucha (Guricha) – Region: China50 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 4th, 2009
This is the only example of guricha or tamaryokucha that I've tried, so I have no idea how typical it is. It seemed a lot more like gyokuro than any other type of green tea.
I find this tea painstakingly difficult to brew in a way I like. Brewing with a very low temperature is essential...otherwise this tea acquir...

Dry Desert Lime™ from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: ?????63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 2nd, 2009
I normally am not a fan of sour teas but I like this one...it's tart but not too much so. It's also pleasantly bitter and very aromatic. I agree with Anne's comments that this cuts through sweet and heavier foods. Oddly refreshing!

Jasmine Petal from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: China67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 2nd, 2009
Mellow and much less floral than most Jasmines; the tea dominates the aroma. There is little bitterness, almost no astringency, and and a hint of sweetness.
This tea holds up very well to multiple infusions: the second cup was just as flavorful as the first, and a third was still good. There's almost no Jasmine le...

Chai Spice Black Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 30th, 2009
I like this teabag chai...and it's quite different. Happily, it's not too heavy on the cinnamon...the ginger, clove, and allspice are noticeable! The aftertaste is very clean and cool...more similar to Earl Grey than other chais. The black tea is nondescript and moderately strong...overpowered by the aroma of the sp...

Pouchong Tea from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Pouchong Tea – Region: ?????57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 30th, 2009
This is the only Pouchong I've ever found in teabags. Compared to loose Pouchong, it doesn't stack up. The aroma is flat and there is an unpleasant biting quality to the tea. Compared to other equally-inexpensive green teas, however, this is not bad.
The aroma is vegetal and a bit fishy. There's a bit of sharpne...

PG Tips Pyramid bags from PG Tips
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 28th, 2009
These teabags seem to be meant for more than one cup. The tea brews very rapidly and is very strong. It wasn't terribly complex; it had a muted quality...very bitter aftertaste but initial taste was a bit smoother. Very tannic; do not let this steep too long; a very brief (1 min.) infusion I find is best. Even then...

Chai Green Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Blend40 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 28th, 2009
This tea is too much like a regular spiced black tea with green tea substituted. But black and green teas have a very different character, so I think different proportions of spices are needed. The result in this case is a tea that does not blend well.
The cinnamon totally overpowers the tea and the other spices i...

Premium Green Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Green Tea – Region: Brazil60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 28th, 2009
Aroma grassy, fresh, a bit fishy. There's a hint of sweetness...a lot of astringency though. More like a sencha than any other kind of green tea. Is this tea attempting to be a sencha?
This tea is very difficult to brew. It scalds easily if the water is too hot, leaving it bitter and sour; there are a generous a...

Green Tea from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 27th, 2009
This is a very enjoyable green tea. Although this tea is steamed, it is much mellower than a typical sencha--less sharp. Less grassy than Ten Ren's dragon well. The tea brews a more golden color, less greenish. Less bitter and astringent than the majority of teabag teas on the market. Compared to Ten Ren's Dragonw...

Earl Grey from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 27th, 2009
I was disappointed with this one, as I was with Ten Ren's black tea. There isn't much complexity to the black tea aroma, and the bergamot is a bit too weak for me. I prefer many other brands' attempts at teabag Earl Grey to this one.

Jasmine Oolong from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: ?????77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 27th, 2009
This was one of the first teas I tried from Ten Ren, and I enjoy it greatly. Richer and more full-bodied than most jasmine green teas, yet the Jasmine aroma is still strongly present. I think this blend works very well--it's hard to even recognize as a blend as the aromas blend so well. People who like jasmine tea b...

PuErh Tea from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Pu-erh Tea – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 27th, 2009
I bought this tea long ago, after being impressed with the quality of Ten Ren's tea bags, and wanting to try all their teas.
Aroma is dusty but clean. Flavor is smooth. Not quite as full-bodied as some pu-erh tea bags, and not as much complexity in the earthy aroma, but this is really not bad. Pu-erhs can be hard...

Black Tea from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????33 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 27th, 2009
I think this tea does not stack up to the quality of Ten Ren's other teabag teas; it makes me wonder if it's included only as an afterthought, as Ten Ren does not seem to specialize in black teas. Aroma is nondescript, generic, lacking complexity. If you want a darker tea from Ten Ren, I'd recommend a darker oolong.

Plantation Mint® Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Black Tea with Mint – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 27th, 2009
Aroma is candy-like and flavor is very smooth. While this pales in comparison to brewing quality black tea together with fresh spearmint, it's enjoyable.
The black tea isn't the best quality and has only a weak aroma, but the spearmint is quite aromatic. There's no bitterness or astringency, even if you let it bre...
